Trinidad and Tobago Mortgage Bank (TTMB) is grateful to support the Ministry of Education’s new system of online learning where the nation’s classrooms are being held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The reality is that some of our nation’s students do not have the resources to access this new method of teaching for varying reasons. It is with this in mind that through the company’s Corporate Assistance for the Needy programme, (TTMB CAN Project), tablets have been provided to primary school children who require assistance by having this essential tool for effective online learning
Ninety-six Standard Five students, who will be sitting the SEA examination in 2021, were provided with new tablets. The devices were delivered to, Plum Road Presbyterian Primary, Carapichaima Anglican Primary, El Socorro Hindu School, Penal Rock Road RC School and Roxborough Anglican Primary, corresponding to schools within the five TTMB office locations; Arima, Chaguanas, Port of Spain, San Fernando and Tobago.
The tablet of choice is the Amazon Fire HD 10 which has 32GB of internal storage. It is loaded with the following commonly used online applications for effective learning as recommended by the Ministry of Education: Google Classroom, Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Teams. Parental Control has also been engaged and all in-app purchases are blocked to ensure information security and solely usage for educational purposes
